Job Summary
The Senior Advisor Global Council will provide strategic guidance and support to the Global Council in various areas, including policy development, research, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy. The Senior Advisor Global Council will collaborate with internal and external partners to influence decision-making and shape impactful initiatives that align with the organization’s mission.
Responsibilities
1. Global Council:
Develop a strategic plan to grow ZM advocacy and monetary support
Work with the museum director and Global Council chair to devise a strategy for the
Global Council.
Prepare an annual program for Global Council members
Grow and Sign up additional like-minded members to 18 people with strong annual
revenue streams by end of 2023
Maintain a deep understanding of key stakeholders, including government officials,
business leaders, and civil society organizations, to identify areas of partnership and
potential collaboration
Successfully arrange and execute Global Council art trip program
Prepare and disseminate regular communications with Global Council members
Strategize cultivation events, art trips and activities in collaborations with the Zeitz
MOCAA museum team to ensure active Global Council participation and presence.
Support the development and implementation of advocacy strategies to influence
global policy discussions and foster consensus among diverse stakeholders
Actively seek out alternative modes of support for the museum through global
networks e.g., artwork donations, corporate member support, hotel and event
partnerships and channel this support accordingly
Plan, coordinating, liaison, programming activities, and meetings
Create museum Global Council member cards and welcome pack
Create tangible goals geared towards specific area/cause e.g., education, acquisitions
in line with ZM needs/disseminate minutes
Collaborate with the Global Council members to develop strategic plans, set objectives,
and track progress in achieving organizational targets.
2. Communications and Reporting:
Prepare high-quality briefings, reports, and presentations for the Global Council, providing concise and insightful analysis on relevant topics.
Create collateral to support both initiatives above, such as websites, member cards and event invitations in collaboration with the Zeitz MOCAA communications team
Provide activity updates to Zeitz MOCAA Communication manager for integration in to Zeitz MOCAA communications
Regularly presentations also to the Executive Director and Trustees
3. General Management:
Represent the organization at international conferences, meetings, and events, fostering relationships with key partners and promoting the organization’s mission and initiatives.
Coordinate 3-4 annual board meetings
Attend meetings with new prospects
Develop and Implement art trip program
Drive and activate board member networks
Monitor and implement renewals
Mentor and provide guidance to junior staff members, fostering professional growth and development within the team
Develop and manage a budget
Qualifications
A degree in Business Management or Museum or Arts studies, international relations, or a related field is required
Experience
Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience working within a cultural context and global affairs, international relations, or a related field with stakeholder engagement.
Experience working with international museum cultural groups
Proven track record of providing strategic advice and guidance to senior executives, or international organizations.
Understanding of global policy framework and institutions would be to an advantage

Knowledge
International and Pan African museum and patron practices
Museum patrons’ groups internationally and across Africa Continent and its diaspora.
Stay updated on global economic, and social developments, staying informed about the latest research and best practices in the field to enhance expertise and knowledge sharing.
