Distribution Centre Inventory Manager
As the Distribution Centre Inventory Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all inventory-related activities within our distribution centre. Your primary goal will be to ensure the smooth flow of goods through the distribution process while minimizing costs and maximizing inventory accuracy. You will lead a team of inventory specialists and collaborate with various departments to maintain optimal stock levels, implement inventory control procedures, and enhance overall distribution efficiency.
Functional Description:
· Inventory Management: Develop and implement effective inventory management strategies, including maintaining accurate stock records, optimizing stock levels, and minimizing carrying costs while meeting customer demands.
· Inventory Control Procedures: Establish and enforce inventory control procedures to monitor stock movement, accuracy, and shelf life. Conduct regular audits to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
· Order Fulfillment: Ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment by coordinating with the warehouse and logistics teams to prioritize orders and maintain appropriate stock levels.
· Process Improvement: Continuously review and optimize inventory management processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall operational performance.
· Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular inventory reports, performance metrics, and KPIs for management, offering valuable insights to support strategic decision-making.
· Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the inventory team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure their professional growth and efficient execution of tasks.
· Health and Safety: Uphold a safe and clean work environment, adhering to safety guidelines and promoting safety consciousness among the team members.
· Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company policies related to inventory management and distribution operations.
Minimum Requirements:
· 3-year Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Commerce.
· 10 years supply chain experience
· Proven experience (5 years) in inventory management within a distribution or logistics environment, with a track record of successful inventory optimization and cost reduction.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, draw meaningful conclusions, and implement effective solutions.
· Proficiency in inventory management software and SAP EWM systems.
· Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a demonstrated ability to motivate and develop a team to achieve operational goals.
· Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
· Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in inventory management and distribution.
· Good understanding of accounting principles and practices
· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
· Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: R65,000.00 – R70,000.00 per month
