Our client, a modern IoT and digital solutions company focused on African markets, is seeking a Financial Accountant to join their team!

As an Accountant with a BAcc. or a BCom. Degree, you will be responsible for the full accounting function including accounts payable and receivable, procurement, taxation, payroll, and audits. You have one to 2 years of experience with these duties and your attention to detail is therefore sharp, allowing you to ensure the accuracy, validity, and completeness of financial information. You are also familiar with IFRS, and you can use these to develop financial processes and systems to optimise financial systems and reporting tools.

You possess working knowledge of financial report writing and performance analysis, specifically billing income statements. You will be responsible for the requirements of local in-country entity financial statements and corporate consolidation statement requirements.

As an analytical and organised individual, you have a knack for reviewing financial systems and reporting tools and you will use this to ensure systems function efficiently across the client’s business. You will be responsible for engaging across entity businesses to determine financial processes and systems that are sound to enable business growth and efficiencies with relevant financial tools. Furthermore, you will enforce and implement effective financial controls and internal control procedures, and you will develop and maintain financial-related company policies.

As an experienced and knowledgeable accountant, part of your duties will include building the financial team by contributing to new staff selection, providing clarity on roles and performance standards, and setting goals for junior staff. As a manager, you will identify training needs, motivate staff, and team members, and manage any grievance or disciplinary issues that might arise.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

A BAcc, BCom, or other relevant degree

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

2 – 3 years of commercial finance experience

Thorough knowledge of accounting principles

Ability to develop and work according to processes

Thorough knowledge of financial processes and statutory requirements in African countries

Ability to innovate and use initiative within the finance function

RESPONSIBILITIES

Fulfil the full accounting function including from source documents to trial balance, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and auditing. Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial information and oversee financial operations. Manage financial processes and system function and reporting and implement financial controls and procedures. Prepare financial reports and perform analyses for management reporting. Manage junior staff and assist in the growth of the team.
