Business Analyst

Business Overview

This is a busy, fast paced operation which offers many challenges and opportunities for the right person.

Role Outline

DHL Supply Chain requires efficient execution of logistic processes within business needs, customer wishes, local regulation and organizational constraints. Achieving these results is a combination of smart matching of best standardized operational practices with IT capabilities.

The role of the Business Analyst is to translate business and customer needs into an implementable IT solution guaranteeing effective implementation of standardized best practices as per MLEMEA standard. The emphasis of this role is to guarantee proper business requirements are delivered, translated into the IT solution and to give guidance to business and technical teams. The Business Analyst should therefore be well known and trained to the latest DHL standards and be able to sell these as much as possible.

The Business Analyst works in tight contact with the Solution Manager to ensure standardization of processes is enforced and, where not applicable, collects evidence to submit changes to the regional Change Advisory Board in order to stimulate the enrichment of the standard. For this purpose, the BA is responsible to collect and translate the business deviations into a formal change in the Change Advisory Board in a quantifiable manner and be available to explain the reason of the deviation.

Key areas of responsibility include:
A.1. Analysis and translation of requirements

Analysis of logistics requirements originating from business and customers as part of projects or RFCs (requirements elicitation)

Influencing business into best solution and “sell” this solution, taking into account available (standardized) IT products and solutions

In the event of not having business requirements and processes (up to the level required), improve or even create these requirements and processes together with business and/or customer representatives

Perform GAP analysis between MLEMEA OPS Standard and selected IT Products

Translation of the analysis into efficient and effective solutions within the constraints given by the available standard application functionalities

Understand opportunities and limitation of given IT systems and ensure proposed business solution will be adherent to the given standards

A.2. Realise a chosen solution

Deliver required documents as per DePICT and ONE.DEPLOY in agreement with workstream leader

Give guidance to technical team for activities in implementation phase of project and be the demand party for the technical team

A.3. Prepare for “go-live”, support during “go-live”

Analysis of logistics requirements originating from business and customers as part of projects or RFCs (requirements elicitation).

Ensure assigned tasks are delivered in a timely manner and within assigned budget

People Management

Transmit passion to the work and to the DPDHL and MLEMEA strategic programs

Guide people in the change process from the actual operative procedures to the new procedures

Qualifications/ Skills/Competencies/Experiences

Minimum 1 year experience with the setup of logistics processes and related applications (from medior)

Minimum 1 year project delivery experience (from medior)

Minimum 3 years project delivery experience (senior only)

Minimum 3 years experience with the setup of logistics processes and related applications (senior only)

Ability to translate business needs and issues into working and efficient process requirements

Analytical skills

Customer and supplier contact

Ability to maintain clear and reliable translation between operational language and technical language (IT) and work in strong coordination with the Application Consultants

Ability to train colleagues in the defined processes

Ability to help colleagues with specific expertise and to coach on content and skills (buddy principle)

Deep knowledge of logistics processes

Understand opportunities of standardized IT solutions on the operations and propose business processes (new or improvement to existing) based on standard IT system & configurations

Good knowledge of and insight in E2E supply chain management

Familiar with operational standardization concepts within Supply Chain and/or in other businesses

Familiar with or specialist in DHL Operational Standards and sector best practices

Travel in EMEA may be required (depending on project)

Ability to work in a high-pressure demanding environment
