Assistant Engineering Representative (Junior) Muden at Bigen Africa

Qualifications and experience:
A National Diploma in Civil Engineering, or applicable Building Diploma will be advantageous

A minimum of 3 years experience

Fluency in English and IsiXhosa or Sesotho is essential

These projects are situated in very remote areas and successful applicants will be expected to live away from home in rural situations ( Without water and potentially electricity) for extended periods of time.

Although the reporting office is in Durban, the project is situated in Muden within Umvoti Local Municipality.

Suitable candidate must have a valid drivers license and own vehicle.

Responsibilities:
Overall on-site responsibility to ensure the contractor adheres to the client’s production requirements and design specification

Basic Contract administration, Monitor and report on the various stages of typical Housing Projects, quality control and Project specific Quality Management System, Site related liaison with the Client, Engineer, specialists, community and Contractors

Capture and report on all progress related activities typical to a Housing Project

Assist the Engineer in preparing and adjudicating claims and extension of time

Assisting the Engineer in collecting the necessary information required in the event of a claim being instituted by a Contractor including Variation Orders.

Write and distribute site meeting minute

Assist with the preparation of monthly progress and cost reports for submission to the Client

Work independently and in a team environment;

Candidates must be able to operate and communicate via Smart devices etc.

Candidates will be expected to work with and in line with contractors and their programmed schedules

Remuneration:
Negotiable and based on the candidates qualifications and years of relevant experience
