JUNIOR TAX CONSULTANT at LPH Chartered Accountants

Purpose of the job:

The primary task would be to provide the full tax function to a portfolio of individual and corporate tax clients; whilst working closely with (and under supervision of) a Senior Tax Consultant. The position is one of support to a senior tax consultant and offers the opportunity to grow and establish experience on more complex matters.

Minimum requirements:

• A minimum of 3 years experience is advantageous, but not essential
• Solid knowledge of the tax system and experience in dealing with SARS on a practical level is advantageous
• Must be capable of working with little or no supervision
• Experience working on E-Filing is advantageous
• Suitable qualifications would be beneficial
• Tax Honors students seeking work experience are welcome to apply

Key duties or responsibilities:

• Drafting of Tax Calculations and Income Tax returns – Mostly for individuals, but for Trusts and Corporates too at times
• Sending of requests to clients for information necessary for the completion of various tax returns
• Checking of Assessments
• Capturing tax returns and assessments to database
• Assistance with drafting and submission of objections where necessary (Income Tax, VAT, Employees Tax)
• Assistance with drafting of responses to SARS queries Declarations of Ceasing to Be Resident
• Foreign Tax Clearance Applications and Emigration Clearance Applications
• Arranging of appointments with SARS for Senior Tax Consultants
• Attending SARS Appointments where required
• Managing process of transferring E-Filing profiles
• Account Maintenance for all tax types
• Dealing with client queries and requests
